Things To Do? - Everything and more!

At Docker Park, we are very lucky to be on the borders of three amazing counties – We are in Lancashire .. just! Cumbria & Yorkshire are both within a few miles. So if it’s walking, cycling, caving, fishing, sailing, bird watching, train spotting, photography or anything else in the ‘great outdoors’ then you won’t be disappointed with what we have on offer!

Our nearest larger towns on Kendal and Lancaster both have outstanding museums, cafes, restaurants and more than one choice of theatre and cinema.  The Lake District plays host to numerous festivals throughout the year from music to art to pop. Lancashire, North Yorkshire and the Lakes has a wealth of ancesteral homes to visit and the one of the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens in less than an hour away near Harrogate.

Head out to Kirkby Lonsdale, only six miles from the park and enjoy walks along the river to Ruskin’s View, described by the artist as the best view in all of England! Stop off at one of the many cafes & bars for refreshments and take a peek in the independent shops that make the town so interesting. From here you are only half an hour from the Lake District, where the delights of Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere & Coniston await you.

There is sailing available on Lake Windermere and, of course, we are only five miles from Morecambe Bay where sailing is also available. If you are a boat owner, tie the pleasure of that in with owning your own holiday home near both the sea and the lakes.  We can offer boat storage at competitive prices!

From Kirkby Lonsdale head East fifteen minutes by car to Ingleton & Clapham for caves and if your feeling fit enough ‘the Three Peaks” of Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside. Of course you don’t have to complete them all in one day! Yorkshire Dales awaits, with lots of pretty villages, tea shops, amazing views and cycling options and if you’re in the right place at the right time, a glimpse of the Settle to Carlisle steam train working it’s way through the hills.

We have a lovely swimming pool that is open to the public only two miles away at Capernwray Hall and they also offer indoor sports such as archery, badminton and others .. handy if you have kids with you and it decides to rain!

When all the days exploring is done, just a short drive home to your luxury pad, makes the days even more enjoyable, open the wine, put your feet up and get planning tomorrows trip, with so much on the door step you will never tire of things to do in this lovely part of England.

With walks from the door, a fabulous children's play area on site, a local pub in the nearest village, Arkholme and a thriving village hall offering plays, music and other events throughout the year, Docker Park really can be your "home from home".

Owning your own home here ensures that it is readily available to welcome you at any time, for as long as you can stay!

Lancaster and Morecambe Bay

The historic city of Lancaster with its castle & museums is just a short drive away, it also offers an array of shops, bars & restaurants. Morecambe Bay is impressive too with a lovely walk along the sea front going all the way to Heysham village, great for a bike ride for all the family too. Follow the coastline and discover the Victorian seaside town of Grange over Sands and the natural beauty spots of Arnside & Silverdale, which has an RSPB wildlife centre at Leighton Moss.
